Beyond FedEx Custom Critical: Charlene's Story
On a given day, Charlene, Sales, leads cross-department efforts for proposal requests, facilitates contract reviews with internal stakeholders, and much more, all while delivering the Purple Promise one opportunity at a time. Charlene first joined Roberts Express in 1999 following an opportunity through a local temp agency and has since gained valuable experience across positions in Finance, Operations, and now Sales.
However, did you know Charlene has three granddaughters and is pursuing her passions by helping women “bloom into their best selves” beyond FedEx Custom Critical?
What began as opportunities for supplemental income has since become a calling for Charlene as she leads two home-businesses, one providing cosmetic/skincare products, while the other enhances styles through fashion jewelry.
“My children and grandchildren are the most important things to me,” Charlene explained. “Before I started my businesses, I knew I wanted something that allowed me to be there for them, while also making additional income. It wasn’t until I started making long-lasting customer-friendships through my businesses did I realize I was helping women become the best versions of themselves.”
According to Charlene, her businesses have allowed her to connect with many different people, with varying levels of makeup and accessory experience. However, sometimes these connections are more than skin-deep.
“I’ve seen my customers start to explore these areas [makeup and jewelry] more and grow into who they want to become. Sometimes people are on wellness journeys when I first meet them, so being able to help them with something that was a point of pain for them at one point is special to me.”
Besides the connections, Charlene also expressed the skills she’s developed over the last 17 years of leading her businesses, which she uses in both her consultant and FedEx roles.
“My businesses motivate me to be a cheerleader for others, while also teaching me to adapt to different situations, and how to communicate more effectively.”
